Meet The Team
Ms. STEFANIE, EDUCATION DIRECTOR
Ms. Stefanie obtained her Master of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education and Early Childhood Special Education from New York University and has certifications in both of these educational fields. With over nine years of experience working with children from ages one through five, she’s equipped to help young children thrive in their educational environment. She’s worked as a classroom teacher, an early childhood special needs consultant to schools and teachers, and a small group instructor for special needs children. Besides her educational experience, she also has a Bachelor of Science degree from New York University School of Business and has worked as an accountant for more than seven years. Though she is still licensed as a Certified Public Accountant, she felt drawn toward the teaching field due to her enthusiasm for teaching, her love for young children, and her desire to see students succeed in their futures. One of the most rewarding aspects of teaching young children is the many opportunities that arise to tap into their natural curiosity about the world around them. As an educator, Ms. Stefanie strives to challenge her students while finding ways to channel their unique interests in order to inspire in them a love of learning that will last for a lifetime.
MS. CHERIE, TEACHER
Ms. Cherie obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Social Science from University at Buffalo and her Masters in Early Childhood and Childhood Education also from University at Buffalo. She has been teaching Pre-K for three years, this year will be her fourth year! She enjoys working with young children and empowering their love to learn through play. She believes that every child has the potential to succeed in her classroom no matter what level or abilities they have. Ms. Cherie enjoys exploring different parts of the city on her free time. She also likes to go to hiking, go to the gym, and find new dessert places to try. She is always up for an adventure!
MS. CHRISTIE, TEACHER
Ms. Christie began her assistant teaching career by working one-on-one with children who were in need of early intervention services. Her areas of expertise would include participation in these early interventions, as well as working with children who have special needs. She is working towards her bachelor degree, and is pursuing Special Education teaching certification. She makes it her goal to provide a challenging and inspiring mental, physical, and spiritual environment for the children that have been entrusted to her care. She believes that through the educational team’s commitment to providing students with both solid academic instruction and creative play activities, together they can help each child to fulfill their potential and find enjoyment in their educational experience.
MS. CHRISTINA, TEACHER
Ms. Christina obtained her Master and Bachelor of Science at New York Institute of Technology in Childhood Education with a concentration in English. She has currently taken classes at Touro College to obtain an extension in her certification to include Birth-Grade 6. She has over 13 years of experience working with children in different schools. She started in a position as a 1:1 aide and worked her way up to be the lead teacher of a preschool in Brooklyn. She has also substitute taught in many different public schools across Long Island in Grades K-12. Through her many different teaching experiences, she realized she loves working with the preschool age children. Preschool provides children with an opportunity to explore their environment, play and make friends with their peers and develop the ability to see what they enjoy most! She loves seeing how excited the children are to come to school and enjoys watching them grow!
Ms. FRANCHESCA, TEACHER
Ms. Franchesca Gebara has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. She is currently pursuing her Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education (Birth-2nd). She has over nine years of experience working with young children. Her educational career began with an Assistant Teaching position in Long Island City, which eventually led to a position as head teacher at a reputable preschool in Astoria, NY. Her main experience in the educational field has involved working with children ages three to six years old who have developmental and/or special needs. As a dedicated educator, she is passionate about both seeing children learn and helping them to develop a thirst for learning. Her goal is to inspire each of her students to have a positive outlook on life and on their educational opportunities.
Ms. JACLYN, TEACHER
Ms. Jaclyn graduated with her Bachelors of Science for Business Management from Brooklyn College. Throughout her high school and college years she has been working with young children, which has inspired her to continue on with her Master’s in Early Childhood Education this year 2017. Ms. Jaclyn’s has helped to run a camp for young girls and has been a teacher for parent-child classes at The Little Gym. She has been our pre-k after school teacher at the Purple Crayon for a year and she continues to enjoy watching the children grow and develop in their own special way. One of Jaclyn’s major goals is to be a positive role model in children’s lives.
MS. JAY, Assistant Teacher
Ms. Jay obtained her Bachelor of Psychology degree from CUNY- Brooklyn College. She has over 5 years of experience working with children in different capacities and ages. She started in a position of an assistant at a Math and English Learning Center. Through her experiences, she realized teaching and being in the classroom is her goal and passion. Her goal is to teach and inspire young children to work pass their limits so that they can achieve many things in life. Ms. Jay enjoys working with children and seeing how much they learn and grow within the years.
MS. KARY, ASSISTANT TEACHER
Ms. Kary is currently serving as both an Assistant Teacher and Chinese Teacher. She has extensive experience working with children ages two to 11 years old for over ten years. She immigrated to the United States from GuangZhou, China, at the age of 15. She started out her educational career as a Chinese teacher’s assistant at P.S. 184M. Her next position was as a teacher’s assistant at a preschool in New York. Kary is fluent in both the Mandarin and Cantonese languages. She can also read and write in both traditional and simplified Chinese. Though this dedicated educator enjoys working with all her students, she is especially excited to be able to work with students who have recently immigrated to the United States. Due to her unique life experiences, Ms. Kary has much to offer these students as they enter their first United States classroom experience. She is honored to have the privilege of helping them as they transition to understanding a new language and culture. Her goal is to nurture an enthusiasm for learning in all her students.
MS. KATHY, Assistant Teacher
Ms. Kathy has taught in various classroom settings at early education and school age institutions since 2012. She has worked at Chang Learning Center as a lead tutor for homework help and state wide exam tutoring to third graders, and at SWAN Academy as an English Teacher to toddlers. She has studied linguistics and early education at Stony Brook University. It is her goal to provide a safe and enriching environment for children to grow academically, emotionally, and spiritually. It brings her joy reading and telling stories to children as her favorite hobby is discovering new books at Barnes and Nobles. She looks forward to contributing to every individual child's development through her role as teacher assistant at Purple Crayon.
Ms. MICHELE, ASSISTANT TEACHER
Ms. Michele obtained her Bachelor in Early Childhood Education from CUNY College of Staten Island. She has over four years of experience working with children in different capacities. She has worked with children from a variety of ages, from infant to five years old. After two years in the classroom Ms. Michele spent some time working one on one with children who have autism. Through her experiences she has learned that she loves working alongside with her co teachers to teach and connect with children in a classroom setting.
MS. NOVEM, Assistant Teacher
Ms. Novem is a teacher assistant and Chinese teacher at Purple Crayon. She obtained her certificate of Pre-school Education in 2010. She began her teaching career in China, where she is originally from. She has 8 years of experience working with children and fell in love with teaching. She enjoys reading, watching movies, and spending time with her family in her free time.
